French Press Brewing Guide
-
Measure Coffee:
Use a coarse grind, aiming for a 1:15 or 1:16 coffee-to-water ratio. I use about 30 grams of coffee for my 16 oz French Press coffee every morning. If you don’t have a scale, try 2 tbsp of coffee per 8 oz of water. Adjust for richer flavor by adding ½ tbsp per 8 oz. -
Boil Water:
Heat water to 200°F (93°C), or let cool just a bit after boiling. -
Preheat French Press:
Pour a little hot water into the press to warm it up. Swirl and discard. -
Add Coffee:
Add ground coffee to the French press. -
Add Water:
Pour hot water over coffee, ensuring all grounds are saturated. Stir briefly and let it bloom for 30 seconds. -
Steep:
Place the lid on, but don’t plunge yet. Let the coffee steep for 4.5 minutes. -
Pour and Enjoy:
Pour coffee into your cup. If not drinking right away, leave it in the French press to stay warm.
The Hoffmann French Press Method
This method is for those who want to reduce the silt in the bottom of their cup, use their own quality coffee grinder, and have a digital scale. It requires more time. If you’re serious about refining your brewing process, consider keeping a coffee brewing notebook and tracking each step precisely. Every variable counts.
We designed the 32-ounce stainless steel Nowhere Coffee Club Classic French press coffee maker with three things in mind:
- Brewing cafe-quality coffee
- Built to last a lifetime
- Sustainable in design & use
Here are a few benefits of using a Nowhere Coffee Club French press.
Enhanced taste. Enjoy full-bodied flavor with more of your coffee's natural oils and flavor that pourovers and paper filters strip away.
Full-control. Dial in your signature brew by adjusting brew time, coffee to water ratio, and grind size until you make better coffee than your local cafe! Maintain consistency whether you brew 8oz or 32oz.
Stays Hot. Double-walled insulated stainless steel with a sealed pour spout ensures an optimal brewing temperature as well keeps your second, third, or fourth cup nice and toasty.
Built to Last. We designed our coffee maker to last a lifetime. It's all stainless steel, no plastic, and analog. It's so strong we parked a Jeep on it!
Less Waste. Our filtering system is stainless steel so the only byproduct of our coffee making method is coffee grinds. We recommend you dispose of them in your garden or compost as they are beneficial to the Earth.
Chemical-free Coffee. We do not coat the inside of our carafe with a non-stick coating. It's completely unnecessary and not worth the potential future health risk.
Reinvesting. We founded our company knowing that we need to reinvest in the planet and people. So we started Another Tree Planted where we donate a portion of our profits from every sale to plant trees. We wanted to make a difference in our local communities and hopefully some day make a difference in our global communities.

The old school method is what I’ve always done. I always say I’ll try a more time consuming method, but then I’m like, nope, I want my coffee now!
